# v2.21.0 - Invitation Write Permissions

> New write_permissions field for invitation creation

**Released 11th July 2026**

## Invitation Write Permissions

This release adds a new `write_permissions` field to the invitation creation endpoint, giving you finer-grained control over what data partners can write when accepting an invitation.

<Check>
  **Backward-compatible addition:** Existing integrations are unaffected. The `write_permissions` field is optional and can be adopted at your own pace.

### New features

  <Accordion title="write_permissions field on POST /v2/orgs/invitations" icon="envelope">
    The `InvitationCreate` request body now accepts an optional `write_permissions` field. Use this to specify which write operations the invited fleet or partner is permitted to perform once they accept the invitation.

    **Example request:**

    ```bash theme={null}
    POST https://api.catenatelematics.com/v2/orgs/invitations
    Content-Type: application/json
    Authorization: Bearer <token>
    {
      "write_permissions": ["dvir"]
    }
    ```

    If `write_permissions` is omitted, the invitation behaves as before — no write permissions are granted by default.
  </Accordion>
