# v2.84.0 - Contains Search for Trailers, Users & Vehicles

> New match query parameter added to trailers, users, and vehicles endpoints enabling substring search in addition to the existing prefix search

**Released 7th October 2026**

## Contains search for trailers, users & vehicles

A new optional `match` query parameter has been added to the trailers, users, and vehicles Telematics API list endpoints. It controls how the existing `q` search term is applied — either as a prefix (the default, preserving existing behaviour) or as a substring match anywhere in the field.

The parameter is optional and backward-compatible — existing requests that omit it continue to behave exactly as before.

### Affected endpoints

| Endpoint | Change |
| - | - |
| `GET /v2/telematics/trailers` | New optional `match` query parameter |
| `GET /v2/telematics/users` | New optional `match` query parameter |
| `GET /v2/telematics/vehicles` | New optional `match` query parameter |

### The `match` parameter

| Value | Behaviour |
| - | - |
| `prefix` (default) | Results must **start with** the search term. `abc` matches `ABC-1042` but not `TRK-ABC`. |
| `contains` | Results must **contain** the search term anywhere. `645` matches `A645` and `Truck 6450`. |

### Usage

Use `match=contains` to find records where the search term appears anywhere in the name:

```bash theme={null}
GET /v2/telematics/vehicles?q=645&match=contains
GET /v2/telematics/trailers?q=flat&match=contains
GET /v2/telematics/users?q=smith&match=contains
```

Omit `match` (or pass `match=prefix`) to keep the existing prefix behaviour:

```bash theme={null}
GET /v2/telematics/vehicles?q=truck
GET /v2/telematics/trailers?q=ABC
GET /v2/telematics/users?q=jo+sm
```

The `match` parameter can be combined with all other supported query parameters such as `from_datetime`, `to_datetime`, `sort_by`, and pagination parameters.
